The TASCAM DR-40X recorder offers pro-level four-track recording capabilities in a compact handheld format. A pair of condenser microphones can be oriented for either A/B or XY stereo recording, with two more XLR/TRS combo inputs for additional mics or sound sources. Auto Recording for hands-free recording
Want your DR-40X to begin recording when it receives an audio signal, without having to get your hands on it? Simply engage Auto Recording mode. You'll be able to set a threshold at which point it will begin recording — once its microphones or audio inputs sense an audio signal above that threshold, recording will begin.

Built-in mics plus inputs for your mics and instruments

Simply use the built-in condenser microphones to capture a studio-quality stereo recording.
