The stainless steel IM Series IMDL1 Directional Boundary Microphone by Earthworks is a low-profile installation microphone optimized for speech. It's well suited to a wide variety of applications including teleconferencing, boardroom meetings, government and education panels, lecture halls, and more. The IM series can be custom mounted in a ceiling, wall, or table and provides great sound quality, flexibility, and ease of installation.
 
The IMDL1 features a cardioid polar pattern that focuses audio capture on the subject in front of the mic and picks up less sound from the back and sides, reducing feedback issues when sound reinforcement or monitoring is also present. The mic has a flat frequency response of 20 Hz to 30 kHz with a near-uniform response at 0, 45, and 70° off axis, meaning that sounds coming from the sides and rear are cleanly reduced in volume without spotlighting or highlighting for clear, intelligible sound for critical meetings and discussions.
 
At 0.7" in height and with a flange just under 1.6", the IMDL1 offers an unobtrusive, visually discreet solution for desktop and conference table installation and is powered by standard 24 to 48V phantom power via the XLR connector. The LumiCom touch ring features a red and green LED and is powered from 8 to 28 VDC from its RJ45 connector. For optimal sound quality, the IMDL1 should be installed a minimum of 18 inches  from the edge of the table. The recommended range of angles for optimal sound quality is from 25 to 45°.
